Mr. Behler, born March 20, 1952, is the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and President of Paramount Group Real Estate Advisor LLC (“PGREA” or the “Firm”), and has served as the Chairman, CEO and President of PGREA’s parent, Paramount Group, Inc., a Maryland corporation listed on the NYSE since 2014, or its predecessor companies (together with PGREA, “Paramount”), since October 1991. Since joining Paramount, Mr. Behler has overseen all of the acquisitions and dispositions that produced Paramount’s current portfolio of assets. In 1973, Mr. Behler joined Thyssen Handelsunion AG and spent the early part of his career in Thyssen entities, where he held numerous Thyssen positions in the Middle East, including President of Thyssen Saudia, Ltd. In 1985, Mr. Behler came to the United States as President of Thyssen Rheinstahl in Atlanta, Georgia. In his positions with the Thyssen entities, Mr. Behler was responsible for, among other duties, the acquisition, financing, development and disposition of more than ten million square feet of commercial real estate in various countries.
Mr. Behler’s board and association memberships presently include serving as a member of The Real Estate Roundtable, Washington, D.C.; a member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Board of New York; a member of the American Council on Germany’s Business Advisory Committee; and a member of the Board of Directors of Citymeals-on-Wheels. Mr. Behler is also a former member of the Urban Land Institute, the Executive Committee of the Greenprint Foundation and the Board of Directors of the ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance, and a former Chairman of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE).
Mr. Behler studied law at the University of Cologne and graduated from Georgia State University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
